GOAL
Project Goal
To develop a hardware and software complex for monitoring and correcting respiratory functions based on multi-modular technologies, and to create mathematical models with software and subsequent wireless data transmission for observing, monitoring and rehabilitating the body's respiratory function.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Abstract
Computer modeling of the body's functional systems using predefined mathematical programs can reflect and provide an informational assessment of the body's adaptive potential. Modern information technologies and system-analytical support will become a key condition for the successful applied development of information technologies in various fields of medicine, including methods of computer modeling and multivariate analysis of functional biometrics data. Of note is the growing role of systems analysis in assessing the functioning parameters of any formation at the level of the body's organ and cellular systems. The project proposes the design of a breathing trainer with sensors built into the mouthpiece that measure respiratory parameters. Thus, the breathing trainer will not have a harmful effect on the main physiological parameters during rehabilitation; with an intense breathing rhythm it can increase the resistive load on inhalation and during hypocapnic ventilation at the physiological threshold. Computer modeling is an effective conceptual and practical tool for a sound assessment of the collection and analysis of data obtained from the breathing trainer during rehabilitation, and the absence of such products on the Kazakhstani market will give a new start to a domestic brand of intelligent breathing trainers.
PLANS
Expected Results
For the first time, the project will propose a physiologically and respiratorily modified breathing trainer for remote wireless computerized observation, monitoring and correction of body functions, with sensors that record O2 and CO2 concentrations during inhalation and exhalation. A refined mathematical model with software based on computer translation programs will help simulate processes and connections through specific device circuits, with algorithms developed for functional respiratory systems during breathing and the use of the trainer at rest and under load. All key indicators will be calculated and optimized on the basis of the mathematical model and analysis. A physiologically and respiratorily modified breathing trainer for restoring the body's functional systems will be presented. A hardware and software complex based on mathematical models is planned that will read heart rate variability and heart rate and assess the adaptive and compensatory activity of the whole body. This system will be a great help in measuring stress levels and adaptation to possible stressful situations.
RESULTS
Current Results
A systematic analysis of physiologically and respiratorily modified battery-powered breathing trainers was carried out. Breathing trainers that use wireless transmission technology were identified. An analysis was made of international developments of various hardware and software complexes used to work with patients' respiratory functions.
The creation of a motorized breathing device for the mask is an innovative stage, within which a component — a motorized valve — was developed. The motorized valve was made to precisely control the oxygen supply to the mask based on data from specialized sensors. The main purpose of this technological solution is to improve the efficiency and comfort of using the breathing mask. The type of hypoxic system was selected, including systems with low oxygen content in the air or systems with controlled oxygen flow. A mask was developed that reliably maintains a hypoxic environment and fits tightly to the user's face. Several valve designs were produced. The first version of the electronic circuit was developed and the components for the circuit were selected.
O2, CO2, temperature, humidity and pressure sensors were developed. The installation and integration of the sensors into the mask were planned, and the locations and types of sensors were determined. An automated system for regulating the oxygen supply to the mask using servo motors was developed and implemented. For this purpose, drawings and parts were created and produced by 3D printing. The motors regulate the oxygen supply depending on oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, providing a higher level of comfort and safety for the user wearing the mask.
