GOAL
Project Goal
To develop a virtual electronic laboratory with a set of practical and theoretical tasks, as well as animations, incorporating augmented and virtual reality technologies for teaching physics in secondary educational institutions.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Abstract
Methodology
Agile software development methodologies, computer modeling methods and object-oriented programming.
Novelty
The project developed a virtual electronic laboratory that provides access to theoretical and practical physics tasks and animations from the secondary school curriculum, implemented as computer applications with augmented and virtual reality elements for a more detailed study of physical processes through 3D visualization.
Summary of Results
The developed virtual electronic laboratory includes practical and theoretical physics tasks from the secondary school curriculum and a set of animations. The tasks are implemented as separate applications providing access to 3D visualization of the processes under study using augmented and virtual reality technologies, as well as to ready-made solutions. The set of 3D animations is presented as an electronic textbook.
Area of Application
The main area of application of the developed virtual electronic laboratory is secondary schools.
RESULTS
Scientific Achievements
As a result of the project, a virtual electronic laboratory application with augmented and virtual reality elements was developed, including a set of physics tasks in the form of laboratory works, problems, animations and tests. All components of the laboratory are implemented as separate modules with 3D visualization of the processes and phenomena under study. A framework was developed that expanded the set of gestures recognized by the Leap Motion controller. Documentation of the work, a description of each laboratory work and of the whole system were also written. The results of introducing the virtual laboratory into the educational process are presented, along with an evaluation of the results based on an analysis of student performance and learning outcomes when using the virtual electronic laboratory with virtual and augmented reality technologies.

Sites for Testing and Implementation of the Results
Republican Physics and Mathematics School NJSC (Almaty) and the Kadyrgali Kosymovich Zhalairi secondary school-gymnasium (Almaty Region, Koksu District), as well as leading international and national scientific journals and international scientific and practical conferences.
Based on the work carried out in 2018–2020, 54 works were published, including 6 articles in journals indexed in Scopus and WoS, 11 articles in journals recommended by the CQASHE of the MES RK, 17 papers in international conference proceedings and 7 articles in Kazakhstani journals. 7 certificates of state registration of copyright (computer programs) and 4 implementation certificates were obtained.
