On September 3, IITU hosted a master class for first-year Journalism students, led by Professor Bartosz Michał Hordecki of Adam Mickiewicz University (Poznań, Poland). The session focused on the double degree programme, which lets students earn two degrees — one Kazakhstani and one European — in just four years.
The programme spans three fields: journalism, advertising and PR. Graduates receive a degree from IITU and a degree from Adam Mickiewicz University, one of Poland's leading universities.
“After enrolling at IITU and passing two UNT exams — Kazakhstan History and Reading Literacy — plus two creative examinations, an applicant also becomes a student of Adam Mickiewicz University. They study their first two years at IITU and the next two in Poznań, and graduate with degrees from both universities,” said Professor Bartosz Michał Hordecki.
Aigul Niyazgulova, Head of the Department of Media Communications and Humanities, noted that government grants are also available for the programme.
A highlight of the meeting was the participation of Gaukhar Akkazina, a student on the programme. She began her studies at IITU and is now in her final year in Poland. Her account gave first-year students a view of the programme not only from an academic angle but through the real experience of someone who has already walked the path.
Developing its international cooperation, IITU continues to open new opportunities for students beyond Kazakhstan. The double degree programme with Adam Mickiewicz University lets students:
