Development of MetaUniversity using immersive technologies and digital twins
GOAL
Project Goal
To develop a MetaUniversity using immersive technologies and digital twins in order to give learners access to an educational environment that integrates knowledge and practices from various fields or universities.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Relevance
In an era of rapid technological transformation, the concept of the "university" is changing. It is no longer a classical educational institution that trains specialists in fundamental and applied sciences. A modern university is an educational, research and practical complex that offers learners access to laboratories, internship bases and knowledge.
With the development of immersive technologies, the "university" is moving into a virtual or meta-space — that is, a web platform that offers learners and organizations opportunities to connect, share knowledge and achieve interdisciplinary academic goals. By joining forces, educational institutions give students access to learning resources from any university or library they need. Students enrolled at one institution can also take courses at other universities and colleges. All this makes education more accessible, advanced and independent.
The MetaUniversity is a revolutionary concept that seamlessly combines traditional education with the limitless possibilities of the Metaverse.
The notion of a university in the Metaverse is a vision of the future of education, implying innovative methods of teaching and content development. The Metaverse incorporates advanced artificial intelligence technologies through the emerging convergence of augmented reality, virtual reality and mixed reality, cloud computing, blockchain and 5G/6G wireless networks.
The MetaUniversity will help overcome the limitations of traditional education, such as rigid curricula, ties to a specific location, lack of flexibility and limited opportunities for interdisciplinary learning. The MetaUniversity removes age restrictions for learners, language barriers and cultural differences, and opens up new opportunities for people regardless of where they live and for people with physical disabilities.
The idea of the project is to develop a virtual space for integrating knowledge and practices from various fields or universities, to implement flexible study programs covering a wide range of disciplines, and to foster cooperation between different educational institutions.
PLANS
Expected Results
- An analysis of the use of modern immersive technologies will be carried out to identify the best practices and technological solutions for implementing the MetaUniversity
- A virtual university campus and digital avatars will be developed
- Mechanisms will be developed for integrating educational content from various fields and universities to give learners access to diverse knowledge and practices
- The developed components will be integrated into a single system
- A security system will be created to protect user data and ensure privacy in the virtual environment of the MetaUniversity
- Over the course of the project, at least 2 articles and/or reviews will be published in peer-reviewed scientific journals indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded of WoS and/or having a CiteScore percentile of at least 65 in Scopus, as well as at least 1 article or review in a peer-reviewed foreign or domestic journal recommended by the CQASHE
