The Mixed Reality Laboratory was opened at "IITU" JSC in January 2020. The university staff work here on applied scientific projects. Activities at the MRL include popularization of virtual, augmented and mixed reality technologies, creation of new educational courses, methodological support of laboratory and practical work of students and introduction of advanced technologies of virtual, augmented and mixed reality in the educational process.
Functions of the Laboratory:
research and development;
development and improvement of methods and programs, regulatory and technological documentation for R&D;
provision of methodological and consulting assistance in research and development;
insurance of high efficiency of the work and monitoring of the timely and high-quality performance of the research work in accordance with the approved tasks and programs;
collection, storage and systematization of information on the completed and ongoing R&D in compliance with the requirements established by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan on intellectual property rights protection and state and (or) commercial secrets protection;
professional development of the laboratory employees, as well as training and retraining of personnel.
The main goals and objectives of the laboratory:
creating conditions for conducting training sessions at an appropriate technical and information level;
methodological support of laboratory and practical works of students;
introduction of advanced technologies of virtual and augmented reality (mixed reality) into the educational process;
assistance in the implementation of research projects based on virtual and augmented reality technologies;
creation of conditions for effective use and implementation of the developments in the field of mixed reality;
assistance in promoting Kazakhstani mixed reality developments into the market;
meeting the needs of specialists, enterprises, authorities and other stakeholders in professional education in the field of mixed reality and mixed reality systems.
