On these dates, master classes were organized for teachers from Astana schools as part of the Akelius international project on the theme “Improving Russian language integration among vulnerable groups of children and enhancing educational outcomes, especially among children in migration.” These master classes were conducted with the support of the Methodological Center of the Astana Akimat and UNICEF Kazakhstan. Teachers from School-Gymnasium No. 51 named after Mustafa Shokai, School-Gymnasium No. 75, Lyceum School No. 60, Lyceum School No. 53 named after B. Momyshuly, Lyceum School No. 62, and School-Gymnasium No. 67 named after Ilyas Yesenberlin participated in the seminar.
According to the project supervisior of the Methodological Center, Akbota Bakytovna:
“This project has been implemented and is actively used in six schools in Astana. Teachers of Russian and English languages in each school use Akelius software and tablets to teach children. This contributes to improving their literacy and language competence, with particular attention paid to preparing teachers and conducting master classes.”
The supervisior also emphasized that when teaching children with special educational needs, special attention is given to lesson planning, individualized approaches, and safeguarding the personal interests of each child.
On September 21, a master class was held at School-Gymnasium No. 67 named after Ilyas Yesenberlin, led by Akelius project expert Anar Serikovna Baibatenova. After the master class, participants shared their feedback and expressed gratitude with comments such as:
"Anar Serikovna always delivers 100%—as a trainer, she is the best in Astana, especially as a philologist."
On September 28, at School-Gymnasium No. 51 named after Mustafa Shokai, the master class was conducted by Akelius project expert Gulnar Myrzagalievna Rakhimgazina. Participants of the master class also shared their impressions:
“I would like to thank you for the seminar!”
“The seminar achieved its goal. It was very informative.”
“We learned some very interesting and accessible techniques that will make it easier for us to work with migrating students and those struggling academically.”
“On behalf of School-Gymnasium No. 75, we sincerely thank Gulnar Myrzagalievna for conducting the master class. The new teachers who joined the Akelius program were very satisfied. Everything was organized at the highest level, in a calm and friendly atmosphere.”
The project trainers taught their colleagues how to learn languages using tablets and language programs. This enables educators not only to introduce students to the rules of their native language but also to expand the boundaries of general academic skills.
The project’s IT support expert, Jandos Sailauuly Myrzabekov, an informatics teacher at Lyceum School No. 62, highlighted the program's technical features, including the ability to use a teacher's account to monitor student progress, utilize QR codes, and more.
According to the trainers, the Akelius educational platform helps students check and confirm their knowledge in a game-based format.
