IITU experts started commenting on lessons on the Akelius platform

In November 2021, 4 meetings of language and methodological experts were held to comment on the lessons of levels A0 and A1 on the Akelius platform. These lessons are intended for children who came to Kazakhstan and do not speak Russian.

The meetings were held on 15, 18, 25 and 30 November. Analysis of lessons with methodological comments and recommendations is necessary to improve the quality of multimedia material and eliminate technical bugs.

The experts find extremely unfortunate examples like “оно едет на машине”, “я лежу рядом со стулом”, “кот сидит позади воды” and tell developers how to fix such content issues. They also make sure that the vocabulary used in the lessons corresponds to a real language environment.

“The letter И is given an example ИГЛУ (house). Given that in our reality, students are unlikely to encounter this type of housing, it seems appropriate to replace this example with another word that students really need in everyday communication, for example, ИГРА, ИМЯ, ИГРУШКА, ИГОЛКА,” recommends Assistant Professor Yevgeniy Medvedev.

In addition, expert comments also add a touch of creativity. So, Assistant Professor Oksana Bublikova wrote down such a sentence to the topic “Learning Colors”.

“As a recommendation, we propose to conduct a drawing lesson as a method of interactive and blended learning. It is especially interesting to apply an unconventional method, such as finger painting. Give the task to paint over parts of the house with a brush in a pre-prepared coloring: roof, ceiling, wall” advises Oksana Vasiliyevna.

Over time, the lessons of all levels on the Akelius platform will be commented by the language and methodological experts of the IITU. In addition, IITU experts will develop descriptors for assessing student achievement and a manual on teaching Russian as a foreign language using the Akelius platform.
