On November 26, 2024, IITU hosted an open debate on an important social and political topic - anti-corruption measures in Kazakhstan. The event was organized by the Department of Educational and Social Work together with the student organization “IITU Debate Club”. Both university students and representatives of public organizations took part in the discussion.
An important topic of discussion was the question: “Differentiated system of rewards for citizens who have reported facts of corruption, is this system justified or not?”. The debate focused on both legally enshrined methods of combating offenses and civil society initiatives, including the role of the media. The debate also focused on increasing transparency in public spending, the creation of anti-corruption agencies and anti-corruption measures at the local government level.
At the end of the debate, the judges discussed the results and unanimously concluded that the government supporters had won.
This debate tournament provided an opportunity to further explore anti-corruption policies and develop concrete proposals to reduce offenses.
