Workshop: Topic: How to Avoid Becoming a Victim of a Predatory Journal Abstract: Predatory journals pose a serious threat to researchers, undermining trust in scientific results and creating risks to academic reputation. In this webinar, we will examine how legitimate scientific publications differ from predatory ones, and what warning signs an author should look out for when choosing a journal for publication.

During the webinar, we will discuss:

• typical characteristics of predatory journals;
• what to pay attention to when receiving invitations to publish;
• how to verify information about a journal, its editorial board, and peer review processes;
• tools and resources that can be used to assess the reliability of a publication;
• how to check if a journal is indexed in Web of Science;
• how and where journal metrics are calculated, and where to view them;
• answers to questions from registration forms.
