In April, the International Information Technology University started collecting humanitarian aid for the regions affected by the large-scale flooding.
A collection point was opened in the Main Building of IITU and its work was supported by volunteers and university staff. Teachers of departments, employees of structural divisions, students and university management responded to the call and took an active part in the action under the motto ‘Biz birgemiz!’ (‘We are together!’). (‘We are together!’). They were also joined by several entrepreneurs from Almaty who learnt about the work of the station from social networks.
In total, about two tonnes of humanitarian aid were collected - soap and detergents, household goods and tools, bedding and hygiene products, perishable food and various household appliances, bottled water and others. All this was delivered by volunteers to the city distribution centre and sent to the affected regions.
We thank everyone who responded and took part in this noble mission. We are confident that thanks to the unity of the IITU team and all citizens of Kazakhstan, the difficulties associated with flooding in the affected regions will be overcome.
