On April 13, 2024, the Department of Languages will hold an Interuniversity English Language Olympiad among students of non-linguistic specialties in higher educational institutions of Almaty.
Goals of the Student Olympiad:
- Improving English language proficiency;
- Stimulating academic activity;
- Solving cases and writing essays will allow students to develop analytical skills, critical thinking and search for non-standard solutions;
- Building team spirit and teamwork;
- Encouraging the best educational achievements.
Participants of the event are 1st and 2nd-year students of technical and non-linguistic specialties of the following universities: IITU, KBTU, AUES, Satbayev University and Turan.
The organizer of the interuniversity Olympiad: IITU, Department of Languages, English Language Section. Venue of the interuniversity Olympiad: Almaty, IITU, 34/1 Manas Str.

The Interuniversity Olympiad will be held in one stage on April 13, 2024.

Requirements for Olympiad participants:
1. Participation in the Olympiad is full-time and only for 1st or 2nd-year students of non-linguistic specialties (1-5 students from each university);
2. Participants must bring their student IDs or identity documents;
3. Native speakers and students who have lived for more than 6 months in the country of the language being studied are not allowed to participate in the Olympiad.
Procedure for holding the Student Olympiad
1. Evaluation of Olympiad works is carried out in accordance with the evaluation criteria approved by the methodological commission of the Olympiad.

3. Based on the results of the written part, points will be calculated to form the overall team score for each university.
4. The oral part consists of solving cases in a team. The team is given 10 minutes to prepare the case. After solving the cases, students in teams must present their creative solutions.
5. The team that scores the most points based on the written assignment and case solution results wins.
6. The winners of the student Olympiad will be awarded diplomas and valuable prizes.
7. Participants of the Olympiad who violate social and ethical rules of conduct and the Olympiad procedure or use information and media tools (mobile phones, cheat sheets, etc.) to independently complete Olympiad tasks are subject to disqualification
Registration procedure
To participate in the Olympiad, teachers must submit an application on behalf of students by April 13, 2024. The application must include the following information about the participant: last name, first name, year of study, full name of the university, specialty, phone numbers and e-mail.
