From July 10 to 20, 2025, the city of Sunshine Coast (Australia) hosted the 65th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), bringing together more than 600 talented school students from over 100 countries. Kazakhstan was represented by one of the strongest national teams - traditionally led by the Rector of the International Information Technology University (IITU), PhD Assylbek Issakhov.
The IMO is the world’s largest and most prestigious mathematics competition for high school students, annually identifying future scientists, analysts, and engineers. Kazakhstan consistently ranks among the global leaders - and 2025 was no exception. The participants completed two challenging rounds of competition and proudly represented their country on the international stage.
What makes Kazakhstan’s participation especially significant is that for several consecutive years, the official team leader has been IITU Rector Assylbek Issakhov. His personal mentorship, deep involvement in the team's preparation, and unwavering support not only elevate the status of Kazakhstan's delegation but also reflect IITU’s strategic mission: to nurture and empower the country’s intellectual potential.
“I’m proud of each participant. It’s an honor to be alongside such brilliant young talents representing Kazakhstan at the highest level. I truly believe this experience will help them move forward with confidence and reach even greater heights,” - said Rector Assylbek Issakhov.
One of the team members, Amirlan Amanzholov, a student at Haileybury School in Almaty, also shared his impressions:
“First and foremost, I want to thank Assylbek Issakhov for his outstanding coordination at the International Mathematical Olympiad. He wasn’t just a rector - he was our team leader. He fought for every point, stood by us in the most emotional moments, and did everything to help our team achieve its best result. Thanks to his support, we earned the highest total score in Kazakhstan’s IMO history.”
The Kazakhstan IMO team represents more than just victories - they are the embodiment of the country’s future: bold, intelligent, and ambitious. And IITU proudly stands by them on that journey.
