In Almaty, on March 15, 16 and 17, 2023, IITU methodological and language experts visited schools that are involved in a joint project with Akelius, UNICEF and IITU to improve literacy among children affected by migration processes, visited pilot schools and commented on teachers' demostration lessons.
Methodological assistance to school teachers during the implementation of the project is provided by IITU language experts – Associate Professor Dinara Aliyeva and Associate Professor Oxana Bublikova, as well as methodological experts – Associate Professor Elmira Yerkebekova and Assistant Professor Evgeniy Medvedev. The experts visited school-gymnasium No. 78. The lesson was designed in such a way that it included various activities and exercises in which all students participated, regardless of their age or level of training.
The next in line was school-gymnasium No. 152. Here, during the demonstration lesson, thanks to the skill of the teacher and the use of technology, all students were involved and interested. They had the opportunity to learn from each other and develop the communication skills needed in life.
Further, the experts visited school-gymnasium No. 186 named after. S. Kopbayev. Throughout the lesson, the teacher adjusted the level of difficulty of the tasks, taking into account the different ages and skill levels of the children. The younger children received simpler tasks, the strong students worked with the exercises of their level.
The educational resource Akelius helps teachers to differentiate the level of complexity. Its application gives a personalized approach to learning. On this educational platform, 6 levels and the section "Professions" are now available: A0 (200 words), A1 (500 words), A1.1 (800 words), A2 (1000 words), B0 (1500 words), B1 (2000 words). Two more levels are under development: B1.1 (3000 words) and B2 (4000 words). By using resources like these, teachers can help all students, leaders and laggards, to reach their potential and achieve academic success.
