On April 13, 2023, the seminar "UNICEF Global Day in IITU: Social equity and inclusion" was organized by IITU JSC in collaboration with the UN Children's Fund UNICEF in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The participants of the seminar analyzed specific cases and projects related to the topic of social equality of children and inclusive education, and also shared methods and tools that can be useful when working with children on the Internet.
Methodological expert, Assistant Professor of the Department of Languages of IITU JSC Evgeny Medvedev spoke at the seminar about the work in a joint project with UNICEF on the socialization of migrant children. In particular, he touched upon the experience of implementing the Akelius online language learning platform in Kazakhstani pilot schools and revealed the role of IITU experts in this process.
The speakers of the seminar, in turn, spoke about the experience of creating an ecosystem of DPG projects, the role of nanosatellites in the development of STEM education, the importance of gamification in the learning process. In addition, the workshop participants learned how to develop online pedagogy skills in an inclusive blended format. They also got acquainted with the online child safety platform and a programming course for children with disabilities and children with special needs.
In their speech, the speakers proved that information technology is not only a means for entertainment or information search, but also a powerful tool for solving real problems. They can change the world around us if used correctly.
In order to give all children equal opportunities for education, effective methods of distance learning are needed. Creating free online learning courses, providing access to the Web in schools and libraries, and using technology in a secure manner all provide a new approach to learning that can help all students succeed, regardless of their social background, physical characteristics and other factors.
